The new year means new beginnings for many people, and 2013 marks an exciting new start for us here at Yoke.As we speak, renovations are taking place on a charming, old brick building a few doors down from our current office, which will become the new home of the Yoke studio.
Although this means we’re going to have to leave our familiar quarters and all our friends at 63 Cambridge Street, we don’t think we’ll suffer from the moving blues too much. Seeing as we’re only going a block away from where we are now, we’ll still be able to visit our regular café for our morning and afternoon coffees – props to Stuart, Ruby and everyone at South of Johnston.
When it comes to the design of the new place, we like to think of ourselves as modest people. Hence, we expect our new office to be nothing less than ‘one of the most unique work spaces this side of the equator ‘ (the actual words used by our MD).
The process started in late 2012 when we started collecting ideas and images of offices, studios and workspaces form around the world that we found inspiring. We sent these images to our interior designers and let them run loose with the concepts. Although the final designs are still under development, we get the feeling that they may have gone a bit wild.
At this stage we know that we’re going to have three levels, which means lots of space for us to roam around. Natural light is also very important to us, so it will definitely play a big part in the final design.
Check out photos below of the work already done and we will update the blog as the work advances.
We can’t wait to see what the finished studio will end up looking like!
