Melbourne Museum 'Bug Lab' Exhibition Campaign

Helping Melbourne Museum set giant bugs on the loose.

The Background

Bug Lab: Little Bugs, Super Powers is a collaboration between the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa and the five-time Academy Award winner Weta Workshop, better known for costumes and effects in The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. The exhibition features ultra-detailed, large-scale models bringing visitors into the world of bugs.

The Project

Working closely with Museum Victoria’s internal team, Yoke were briefed to develop the campaign creative for the exhibition’s international debut in Melbourne and deliver an extensive through-the-line production rollout, including creating an army of over 370 bees swarming across the huge glass facade of Melbourne Museum.

The Results

Says Kate Breteton, Museums Victoria’s Brand Manager – Family Audiences “Partnering with Yoke has allowed Museums Victoria to communicate the uniqueness of this exhibition via a visually stunning communications approach that has resonated strongly with Melbourne audiences. The visual concept harnesses elements from both the Museums Victoria’s Visual Identity System and Bug Lab platform, delivering an aesthetically pleasing result.”
